Scholastic Bowl is a competition that tests a teams knowledge of literature, math, science, social studies, fine arts and miscellaneous information. Competitors answer trivia questions in a race against teams from other schools.
Team Members are sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who have a strong academic background in one or more areas, love trivia, are willing to learn, and enjoy a little friendly competition. A permission slip is required to join and must be returned within the first week of practice.
Individual Practice is encouraged. Students can work on knowledge building activities with family, friends or on their own.

When we return to a standard in-person school year, the Activity Bus will be available for all eligible riders involved in Scholastic Bowl. All students riding the late run/activity bus must obey all of the bus rules stated on page 12 of the student handbook. Please note that all late runs are abbreviated, therefore, the stops are not the same as the regular route. Please contact the office for a copy of the current stops available.
Team Competitions are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Times vary according to the team being played and the location of the meet. Family and friends are encouraged to come and support our team. Students are required to ride the bus to and from all host schools unless they have a note signed by a parent or guardian and sign out with the coaches before leaving. Students may not be done in time to ride the activity bus home. Please make arrangements to get home from Matthews Middle School after all competitions.
Volunteers are welcome to help out during practices and competitions. Please contact Mrs. Klein if you are interested.
