Unless you are otherwise informed, as our guest, we will provide you with a permit so you do not have to pay to park or incur ticketing fees. Usually this will mean you will park in Gold Lot A immediately adjacent to the Medical School building entrance.
If you are visiting after normal operating hours (6am to 5pm Monday through Friday) or during a semester break, you might not be issued a parking permit as Maroon and White parking lots are open to the public to park for free when classes are not in session.
Exact dates of breaks vary from academic year to academic year. If you have questions about whether you can park in a Maroon or White lot without a permit, please contact Stephanie Appleby, the Medical School Regional Campus Manager at sappleby@d.umn.edu or by phone at 218-726-6760, or UMD Transportation and Parking Services.
If you have not yet been given information about parking when you visit, please contact the course manager you are working with or Stephanie Appleby.
When parking during normal office hours, please note:
If you park in a metered space or the pay lot, you will have to pay to park.
If you park in a Gold, Maroon, or White lot without an appropriate permit during regular semester hours, you may be ticketed.
Under most circumstances, visitors to the Medical School will be issued a Designated Reserved Parking Permit to use in Gold Lot A, which is immediately adjacent to the entrance to the Medical School building.
Please review these important details about using your Designated Reserved Parking Permit.
As we only have four Designated Reserved parking spaces, when the number of visitors exceeds four, you may be issued a scratch-off single use permit. These can be used in any Gold, Maroon or White parking lot. They do not cover parking in metered spaces or other spots marked as Reserved.
Because these cannot be emailed, you will need to pick up your permit when you arrive. Please contact Stephanie Appleby or Samantha Quade-Lockhart for assistance with picking up your permit the day of your visit.
University Parking Services allows up to 3 hours of parking in spots with a blue accessible parking sign, or at any meter, for vehicles displaying an accessible license plate or temporary accessible permit. If you need accessible parking and plan to be here longer than 3 hours, please contact Stephanie Appleby or Samantha Quade-Lockhart for assistance.
