How do you get into URSA?
Who can apply?
Any University of Minnesota undergraduate student, in any year, from any college or major can apply for URSA. You do not need to need foreign language skills to apply.
How do I apply?
Click the apply button below and submit the following:
Personal statement (approximately 250 words) explaining:
a. Your background (major/minor, GPA, where you were raised, etc.)
b. Why you want to be an URSA student
c. Your interest in Morocco
d. Three possible research topics (just a sentence or two for each)
e. Any foreign language skills or other coursework or personal experiences applicable to your chosen host country. (language proficiency is an asset, not required)
Transcript (An unofficial copy from the registrar is acceptable)
A graded writing sample that was submitted for another course
How will my application be assessed?
We accept up to 18 students in each URSA cohort. Applications will be assessed holistically in terms of skills/potential/interest related to research, communication, maturity, language, cultural openness, and capacity for independent work.
When are applications due?
Applications for the URSA 2025 program are due by midnight October 14, 2024
