Research Focus
In the Emotion Regulation and Worker Well-Being (ERWW) lab at University of Minnesota Duluth we focus on addressing questions regarding the impact of employee emotion, stress, perceptions, and justice on well-being and other relevant workplace outcomes. Through the lens of I/O psychology we apply varied research methods in an effort to answer important questions and seek to disseminate information that provides insight into the struggles employees experience at work and as well as guide potential fixes.
Particular attention is paid to the emotional experiences of individuals at work. How individuals experience and choose to regulate emotion, as well as the demands that drive employee emotion is directly related to key workplace outcomes, such as employee burnout, counterproductive work behaviors, among many others. We seek to take a more focused and nuanced dive into the different strategies individuals employ to effectively regulate emotion at work in hopes to guide future research towards more accurate measurement and theory surrounding emotion regulation.
Goals
Conduct research that informs theory and future academic pursuits
Develop information and resources that can have positive impact on the lives of workers broadly
Provide engaging research opportunity for students (or future students) of I/O Psychology
Represent the University of Minnesota Duluth in peer-reviewed journals, professional conferences, and in other organizations/institutions
To build important research skills both within students and the primary investigator as we strive to continue to conduct fruitful and meaningful research
