7:45 - 8:00 AM       Meet in the lobby of the Engineering Building (near the Dean's office) at UMD

Board bus to drive to Tower / Soudan

Coffee and donuts on the bus

9:30 AM Superior National Forest: Greenwood Fire location visit

   Learn about Forest Fire Ecology/Research, Fire Safe Practices, Forest Fire tactics with 

  Aaron Kania, Kawishiwi Forest Ranger 

   Jeff Kroll, Soil Scientist 

   Katie Frerker, Forest Ecologist 

11:30 AM Box Lunch on Forest Tour 

1:00 PM Bois Forte Heritage Center Tour  

3:30 PM Drive to Giant’s Ridge, 4PM arrival 

5:00 PM   Mesabi Trial Ride or Hike to the peak on Giant’s Ridge (1972 ft ASL) or Gondola ride to the top for anyone who     
                    does not want to hike or bike

7:00 PM Dinner / Hotel – Lodge At Giants Ridge

1:30 PM Sax-Zim Bog Birding 

4:30 PM Depart to Hotel

6:00 PM Timberlake Lodge Hotel check in

7:00 PM Dinner at the Pickled Loon

8:00 AM Continental breakfast at hotel

8:30 AM         Bus departure

9:00  AM        MN Power Facility Tour - Power Generation Future, Cohasset

11:00 AM       Departure from MN Power

11:30 AM       NRRI - Lunch and Tour of the Coleraine Facility

1:30 PM         Bus Leaves for Duluth

4:15 PM       Board the Vista Queen for Maritime Narration and Tour of the Duluth Seaway Port -

Hors D’oeuvres and cash bar on board

4:30 PM         Vista Queen departure 

6:00 PM         Vista Queen return to port

6:15 PM       Board bus back to UMD
