Undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Education and Human Service Professions (CEHSP) will present in-person, interactive, poster presentations.


Student presenters are welcomed from the Departments of Applied Human Sciences, Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Social Work, and Education.

CEHSP Student Panelists 2022

CEHSP Undergraduate Student: Hannah Lauer

Hannah is a senior undergraduate student in the Communications Sciences and Disorders program at UMD and will be graduating in the spring of 2022. Hannah completed an Undergraduate Research Opportunity Project (UROP) with faculty mentor Dr. Jolene Hyppa-Martin and was accepted to present her research at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association National Convention. Hannah will describe how these experiences helped to shape her undergraduate career and provided opportunities for her following graduation.

CEHSP Graduate Student: Claire Curran

Claire is a Master of Environmental Education candidate at UMD where her work focuses on the importance of nature in early childhood. She works with Dr. Julie Ernst conducting research exploring the potential of nature preschools to foster empathy for people and animals.

CEHSP Alumus: Sam Birkholz

Sam graduated from UMD in 2019 after earning his Master of Arts degree in Psychological Science. During his time at UMD, Sam was accepted and enrolled in the Experimental Psychology track with Dr. Eric Hessler as his advisor and also worked closely with Dr. Rebecca Gilbertson and other students. Sam's thesis examined the effects of emotions on procedural memory task learning and performance. Post-graduation he was accepted into the Visual and Cognitive Neuroscience (PhD) program at North Dakota State University, where he is currently researching interactions between attention and working memory. He is also employed as an adjunct faculty member at Minnesota State Community and Technical College where he teaches psychology courses.

Directions for Student Presenters

Thank you! We are so glad that you're presenting!

To allow all attendees to see your work, all posters must be hung by 10:45am and remain in place until 2:30pm (regardless of when you present).

On the day of the event, check in at the registration table on the second floor library Rotunda between 10:00am and 10:45am (regardless of when you present). You will be assigned a poster location and given a name tag, which is required to be worn when presenting.

All presenters are expected to attend the presentation by the Dean’s Wing and CEHSP panelists from 11:50am - 12:30pm in the 4th floor Rotunda. Please make arrangements to have your poster removed immediately after the end of the Showcase. Any remaining posters will be sent for recycling at 3:00pm.
