The Central York Middle School Fife & Drum Corps was formed in the fall of 1971 and the First Capital Fife & Drum Muster celebrates the corps’ 50th anniversary. The corps continues to exist as one of the only fife and drum corps in America which is part of a public school music program. We are excited to welcome alumni home and welcome visiting corps to York, PA in October 2021. We hope you will join us as we celebrate 50 years of fifing and drumming in York PA!!
This group is active the central Pennsylvania area performing in various parades, civic events, and reenactments. The corps has performed in major cities on the east coast including Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia, in Colonial Williamsburg, and in New York City’s Lincoln Center and on the USS Intrepid, as well as outside the United States in Montreal, Canada. The CYMS Fifes and Drums have also participated in several Gubernatorial Inaugurations in Pennsylvania, and have appeared in the Penn State University Homecoming Parade in State College, PA.
