During UW Extended Campus’s 2018 migration to Canvas, our institution leveraged the extensive and well-documented Canvas API to more tightly integrate data from the learning management system into the other parts of our digital learning environment. This data now makes it easier than ever for faculty and staff to understand student activity in our fully online programs and drives their efforts to provide just-in-time interventions to the students who need them. This presentation will discuss our experiences interacting with the Canvas API and showcase some of the ways we have used this data to improve the student experience.
