Open RN Virtual Simulations
Below you will find a collection of the virtual simulations developed by WTCS faculty and the Open RN team. Each simulation is designed in H5P and is available under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license, allowing free and open access for faculty to utilize, adapt, or modify them. When incorporating or customizing an Open RN virtual simulation at your institution, please ensure to include an attribution statement in accordance with the CC BY licensing.
In this interactive learning module, students will navigate the complexities of engaging with a patient experiencing a severe episode of paranoid schizophrenia. The primary focus will be on employing effective therapeutic communication techniques to address the patient's immediate needs and concerns while considering the broader aspects of her mental health management.

In this module, part of the ARISE Therapeutic Communication Serious Game, students will engage with the case of Paula C. The focus is on therapeutic communication in a pediatric setting, particularly in the context of separation anxiety as her family leaves the hospital for the evening.

Part of the ARISE Therapeutic Communication Serious Game, this module focuses on Allison Underwood, a 32-year-old mother frequently presenting with injuries indicative of intimate partner violence. Students will learn to apply therapeutic communication techniques in a sensitive manner while caring for patients experiencing domestic violence.

This module is based on the ARISE OB Level 2B scenario, featuring Olivia Brooks, a 28-year-old in active labor. Students will encounter various stages of labor, from initial assessment to the pushing phase, focusing on providing comprehensive nursing care throughout the labor process.
