Laurie B Teaches
Educator, Equity Advocate, Curriculum Writer,
and Digital Content Professional
Short version: Educator. Mom. Book junkie. Passionate about life. Mental health warrior. Equity advocate. Ally. Crime drama addict. Label maker nerd. Spreadsheet lover. INFJ.👑
Long version: I create robust curriculum that challenges my students (of all ages). I teach inclusive and equitable courses in environments where students feel safe to learn and experience that learning through active, practical application. My approach, whether in teaching or speaking, is relevant and realistic - if you don't understand or are overwhelmed, you will get frustrated and check out. I want people to 'get' how 'it' applies to them and their careers.
My relationships with my students are the most important and rewarding part of living my passion for education. No matter who you are, you are more invested when you know someone cares. I model and guide students to work-life balance, to understand when they need to recharge and say no, to truly understand who they are, and to promote their own personal brands.
A speaker at workshops, conferences, and private events throughout the US and Canada, I have been featured in US News & World Report, The New York Times, and numerous other media. I hold an MS in Communication (emphasis in digital) from Northwestern University, a Graduate Certificate in Mobile Marketing from Rutgers University, and a BA in Mass Communication-Public Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
