My experience as a demo teacher made me realize how difficult teaching is. Getting and keeping the student' attention was one of the most difficult aspects, particularly when dealing with the frequent side conversations. In order to get their attention, I needed to figure out how to stir their curiosity. It was also difficult for me to manage the classroom because I'm still learning how to deal with various scenarios.
Public speaking was another difficulty. I acknowledge that while everyone is watching me, I occasionally get mental blocks and that I don't have a powerful voice. These were a few of the challenges I encountered when demonstrating my lessons. Despite the challenges, I'm satisfied because I know I am still capable of getting better. Nobody begins out perfectly, and as long as I keep trying, I can become a more effective teacher. This was a meaningful experience that I will carry with me when I enter the real teaching field. I also appreciate Ma’am E’s reminders to keep improving—for my own growth.
I’m proud of myself because even though I was nervous, especially being scheduled on the first day, I was able to get through it with God's help and my own determination. If others can do it, I know I can too. I’ve learned so much from this demo teaching experience, and I believe these lessons will help me once we step out of campus and into real-life teaching.
