On Cebu Island, in the south-central Philippines, is a metropolis called Cebu City. The Cordillera Central mountain range and the nearby Mactan Island protect it from the sea from where it is located on Cebu Island's eastern coast. It is a bustling port and one of the biggest cities in the country. Its harbor is the safe strait that runs between the mainland and Mactan Island.
