My Story
Before Hinesburg, I taught in a variety of settings, including behavioral boarding schools and advanced high school literature classes. Since joining HCS (a long time ago, before any of my current students were born), I have immersed myself in good middle school practice, earning Middle Level Certification for Language Arts and Social Science. I value curiosity, hard work, problem solving and growth.
Living my evenings in Bristol, I have two sons who are making their way towards adulthoodl and a wife who teaches English for the Tigers (a.k.a. Middlebury Union High School). I like pop-culture mythologies of all sorts; my mainstays are Star Wars and Doctor Who, but I've delved deep into the likes of Evegelian and Splatoon. I'm also a fan of Scandanvian procedural crime fiction. My favorite treats are black licorice, coffee and home baked goods.
A strong supporter of public schooling, I went beyond my public K-12 education and earned my B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (summa cum laude, with a minor in Chinese and in Certificate in International Relations) and an M.A. in English at SUNY Cortland. In fact, my entire family are public school and college grads, including two parents who earned degrees from CUNY City College (first in their respective families).
The best way to contact me is via email. A favor: Give me a quick "who-you-are" to provide context. I am so focused on your child, I often will not easily make the connection between your name in an email and your child’s (especially if you have different last names).
