The ability to recognize and regulate feelings and build and maintain positive relationships.
The process of understanding the different emotions we and others experience throughout the day. There is a spectrum of emotions ranging from joy and excitement, sadness, anger and fear, to name a few. Decoding and investigating our emotions helps us to better understand what may have triggered that emotion(s) as well as how that emotion feels within our bodies. We have unique emotional experiences and what might cause one person to feel happy might not be the same experience for another.
A great way for kiddos to start to understand how to identify their feelings. Ask them to color in where they feel different emotions. You can do this activity with them so they see how we all feel things differently!
Watch the following story bots video on emotions. What different emotions do you see? How can you tell the differences in each emotion?
Watch the video from the popular movie Inside Out. Pay close attention to how the character’s face changes with each different emotion. How does the character’s body language change? What emotions have you experienced today?
A fun game you can play together, this gives your kiddo a chance to think about emotions by acting them out, but in animal form!

Can you act out all of the emotions on the seen above? How is each emotion different and what are different ways you can express them?
Depending on which emotion your feeling choose which exercise works best for you! Take your pulse before the work out and take note of the positive effects of exercise on your emotional health.

Go ahead and try out some new skills and remember to check in with yourself- was that helpful? Do I feel less stressed or overwhelmed? If so, keep practicing the skill(s) for future use.
Coping Skills Survival Guide - We're almost there! Only a few weeks left! Sometimes it is helpful to have a map, or guide, for when we're feeling upset. Here is a quick and easy Survival Guide for your kiddo to fill out so they can organize some of the coping skills they have learned and who to go to when they need some help.
Many of us have set ways of waking up, eating, sleeping, playing and managing our time that helps to guide our days. Routines help us to create a familiar flow to our day. With the shift to remote learning, our routines have changed as we are learning and playing from our homes. Creating a new routine will be important to your wellness. We suggest creating a visual schedule to help support your new routine with. Rituals are repeated practices, celebrations or traditions we participate in on our own or in a group. Maybe you practice an instrument each week, read before bed, have a weekly movie night, etc.
Bedtime routine can be hard for many families. Try having your kids listen to this soothing music for 15 minutes before bedtime while they paint or color.
Acts of kindness Challenge
Can you fill the board and complete all 12 acts of kindness!
Make kindness and gratitude a part of your family’s routine. Challenge your kids to a gratitude scavenger hunt or ask them to pick one kindness activity to complete each day. If they really want a challenge they can think of their own!

Try to get in at least 30 Min of exercise each day! Complete some of these exercises to get your body moving!
