Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten!

"Oh, what fun to be five! This year is, overall, a time of great happiness for children. Life is "good!" says the five-year olds as they take on the adventure of each brand-new day." - Yarksticks, Child and Adolescent Development Ages 4-14, Chip Wood.

Our Team

About: Ms. Shannon

I've been teaching for twenty-two years and loving what each year brings! I've taught many grade levels and absolutely love teaching kindergarten! During my free time, I love to read, work on knitting projects, and spending time in my gardens in the warmer months. I practice yoga regularly and will often use it into the classroom with my students.

About: Ms. Hazen

Smiles, creativity, and lots of laughter! These things are what I value most as a teacher! This year will mark my twenty-third year as a teacher. I have enjoyed teaching Kindergarten, First, and Second grade students along the way. It is so exciting to be part of the learning process as students learn more about themselves as Readers, Writers, Mathematicians, Scientists, and Problem Solvers! In my free time I love to read and spend time in the great outdoors with my family.

About: Ms. Kendrick

It is an honor and privilege to work with an amazing community of children, families, and staff here at Shelburne Community School! My favorite part of being a kindergarten teaching is seeing children make connections with their peers and sparking joy within each other. Kids move kids, and they show each other what is possible for themselves. My many years of teaching have allowed me to support, encourage and nurture a love for learning and a mindset of possibilities.

In my free time I love to be outside with my family hiking, taking photographs, paddle boarding or exploring.

About: Ms. Gramer

I have been teaching kindergarten, first, or second grade for over ten years. My favorite things about teaching are sharing my favorite read alouds, watching my students learn and grow, and hearing all the fabulous stories my students love to share.

In my free time I love to go for a run, read a book, hang out with my kids, or just soak up the sunshine. I prefer to be outside than in, love a good chocolate chip cookie, and spring and summer are my favorite seasons.

About: Ms. Pinillos

I am entering my eighteenth year at SCS and have had the pleasure of teaching Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade here. My favorite part of Kindergarten is watching my students grow as readers and writers!

In my free time, I love to read, swim, do yoga, run, teach Zumba fitness classes, go to the beach, and spend time with my husband and two year old daughter. A few of my favorites...Eric Carle picture books, carrot cake, the color purple, and sunflowers!

About: Ms. Polly

Ms. Polly has been a para educator at SCS for 22 years. She loves to listen to children, especially their funny stories that they share with her! When she's not working with children she is busy tending to her beautiful gardens!

About: Ms. Heather

I am a former children's librarian, and books and kids are still my two favorite things! I love watching the students grow and develop into wonderful readers, mathematicians, scientists, artists, community helpers, and friends. In addition to diving into a good book, I also love to adventure with my family, bake, snuggle with my pups, and knit misshapen blankets.
