Mr. Bolger's Class

This year marks David's 12th year as a first and second-grade teacher on the Horizon team. He came to teaching after a tour with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic, four years of community organizing in Boston, and a bicycle trip that took him from across the U.S., Australia, and Indonesia.

David got his Masters degree in teaching from Antioch University in Seattle in 1995, and did his Masters project on Howard Gardener"s theory of the Multiple Intelligences. In Horizon, David is especially interested in getting kids to feel a passion for learning and living. He works with his students to figure out what their gift is — and encourages them to share it with the world. He likes getting his students to read and write their brains out, and to see how cool math is. He also believes in getting them outdoors as much as possible.

David and his wife Amy are the proud parents of Sade (24) and Liam (22). They live in South Burlington, Vermont.
