Dan Tomaino
I am so excited to be a part of Team Harmony with our many fantastic educators. I'm happy to be a part of Shelburne Community School! Aside from being a classroom teacher, I wear many hats. For the past three years, I been and educational consultant and coach for Reponsive Classroom. I am also a 15 year veteran of officiating ice hockey and being an on ice instructor for new and advanced referees.
My family and I reside in Jericho. I have a seven year old son; Mason, a five year old daughter; McKenzie and my wife’s name is Courtney. We have two dogs named Maverick and Mareena. When I'm not in the teaching in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family doing pretty much anything. I really enjoy exploring the outdoors, playing disc golf, and building with LEGO bricks!
Our Classroom is a small part of our larger Shelburne Community School. Our classroom environment is a place were students and adults can come together to create a space where we have a shared experience of a positive classroom community. In our classroom community, students learn a set of social emotional competencies as well as academic compentcies. Practice and modeling in these compentencies comes to life through a reportoire of practices in strategies within the Responsive Classroom Approach.
