I work in Shelburne Community School. I teach Pre-K through grades 8 and serve as the ML district team coordinator. My teaching emphasis is on building literacy across the curriculum, so all of my students succeed in their classrooms. I began my teaching career in 1989. I have worked with a large variety of learners in the United States and abroad. I hold a Master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Saint Michael's College and an CAGS in Reading/Language Arts Specialist.

I am an English language teacher for CVSD at CVU and HCS. I get to teach all levels of children Pre-K-12! I hold degrees in Elementary Education (BA), Reading (MS), and completed my TESOL certification to teach English Language Learners at LeMoyne College in Syracuse. I began teaching in 1991 and started teaching English and Citizenship to our New Americans in 1993. I am passionate about education and have a great respect for the learning process. My experiences include some extended traveling and teaching students of all ages, from pre-school to their grandparents. Some of my most memorable experiences are helping newcomers become engaged in their new community and welcoming new citizens. I now live in Williston, VT with my husband, son, dog, cat and bearded dragon.

At sixteen, I lived abroad in a rural mountain hamlet on the Swiss border. There were more cows in town than people. That summer taught me firsthand what it was like to experience a new home, a new language, and a new culture. Ever since, I have been fascinated with linguistics and have studied six different languages while living on three different continents. For the past six years, I have been teaching at Allen Brook school and I love welcoming new families to our school community. I am always looking for good books to read and new places to travel.

I am a graduate of the MATESOL program at St. Michael's College and have taught English as an Additional language internationally in Thailand, Romania, and Azerbaijan, before moving back to Vermont and starting a job at Shelburne Community School as one of the K-8 English teachers to Multilingual Learners. I work with students across the elementary and middle schools, but have experience teaching English to students of all ages, including adults. Out of school, my husband and I try to outsmart our son at board games like Quizz, Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Dixit.

I am an ELL teacher at two schools in CVSD (twice the fun!). In addition to my role as ELL teacher, I am a tender of the ELL Tea Garden at SCS and a keeper of the Rachel Thibault Bilingual Book Collection. In my free time I've been enjoying a new hobby of mine: archery!

I have been teaching ELL students in Williston Schools since 2006. Before Williston, I worked in Burlington for seven years, teaching students and serving the school community in different capacities. I graduated from Saint Michael’s College with a B. A. in Psychology and International Business and received my M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL). I am also certified in Elementary Education K-6. It is my privilege to work with culturally and linguistically diverse students who are continually teaching me about their rich life experiences. In addition to teaching, I enjoy singing, painting, travelling, and spending time with my family and friends.

My love for teaching English as an additional language began while living in the Ivory Coast, West Africa, nearly 23 years ago. I have since worked as an EL teacher in elementary, middle, high school and adult education settings. I love working with students of all ages, from pre-Kindergarten to adults! I have a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, as well as a Reading Specialist endorsement. I have also been a student of new languages myself, while living overseas in Europe, the Ivory Coast, the DRC, and Kenya. These experiences have helped to develop my appreciation for the knowledge and rich backgrounds of our multicultural and multilingual students and their families.

Teaching the English language is a second career for me; after many years working as a musician, I earned an MATESOL at Saint Michael's College in 2022. I'm inspired every day by our ML students! I still love making music, growing flowers, and getting out on Lake Champlain with my family.
