How I got into stem: Besides the raging computer scientist genes from my father, I took AP CSP my sophomore year without a career path in mind. That resulted in advanced programming, cybersecurity, and Cyber Patriot my junior year, so really just an increasing prevalence and interest in my life. STEM = cool. Sisters in STEM also combined my passion for activism and interest in law with the technical impacts of STEM!

How I got into stem: It started out with finding role models in fictional cartoons since my life hadn’t had real role models to look up to in STEM-related fields. So seeing these characters work looked so cool to me! Of course, I know it’s not the same as pages of neon green numbers flying on a computer screen, but I love what I’ve been doing so far.

How I got into stem: I would like to say that my love of playing video games bridged my interest in STEM, specifically IT. I was curious with what operations was happening in the background when something running on a computer. This led me to take classes at Central Valley like Cybersecurity, AWS Cloud Computing, and Advanced Programming!

How I got into stem: As a kid, exploring nature-- from playing in my backyard to hiking with my family-- began my curiosity for biology. Going into high school, I took the amazing Biomed classes at CV and they exposed me to the fascinating world of microbiology! From there my interests in science and appreciation for STEM has only grown.
