REAL Coach
Meet Your REAL Coach
Hello! My name is Shelbi Johnson and I am the Behavioral Intervention Technician (BIT) here at University Elementary. The BIT is also known as the REAL Coach (mostly because my room is REALly fun). I was born and raised in Spokane Valley. I went to Opportunity Elementary, Bowdish Middle and graduated from University High.
I started in Special Education in a neighboring district for three years. While subbing in a behavioral class, I found my calling. I then switched over to behavioral/trauma based work in the classroom for eight years. I am so thrilled to bring my passion and care to our Unicorn Family. 🦄
I love being with my family, my husband of 25 years, my daughter, Mary (17) and son, Bo (15). I also have two springer spaniels and a cat. We spend our time traveling with both kids in Select Softball and Baseball. When we are not at the field, we are at the lake, fishing or in the woods. I also enjoy quiet time at home baking or caring for my house plants.
I am truly honored to be a Unicorn and am so passionate about children, especially those in which school may be more difficult. I look forward to conducting Social-Emotional learning lessons, small groups and simply listening and caring for these exceptional children.
