Tiered System of Support

1st Tier: This typically involves meetings with the Team to review progress, discuss concerns, and determine what accommodations and/or interventions may be necessary to alleviate the concerns.

2nd Tier: The second involves a similar process, but is a bit more formal through our Student Assistance Program (SAP). Referral, data collection, meetings to plan interventions, and potential mental health screenings are a part of this process.

3rd Tier: Support typically consists of a more formal process, which may include a Multidisciplinary Evaluation (MDE) to determine if a student qualifies for special education services typically in the form of a 504 Service Agreement or Individualized Education Plan.

The Goal: To be as least restrictive as possible and design the level of interventions to resolve the concerns. When one level is being used and it is determined more support is necessary, it is best to move to the next level. Each level needs time to develop and allow for the accommodations and interventions to be effective for the student
