Resources for Families

The LMC's goal is to ensure that all students are effective users and producers of ideas and information. This is a learning commons where the school community is invited to make connections, develop interests, seek out new ideas, and build knowledge.

What do librarians teach? Inquiry!

Inquiry is at the heart of what I teach in the LMC. The Empire State Information Fluency Continuum is a document that guides me in crafting a curriculum to assist students of all ages in developing the skills needed to be effective users of information. One of the ways I help students to understand that inquiry is a process that looks different for each learner and each question is by sharing Barbara Striplings' model of inquiry. It illustrates the research process as non-linear and adaptive.
