Distance Learning Tools

Bublup: A teacher's tool for easily pulling resources together. The interface is a little bit like Pinterest, but with more options for adding lesson-specific resources. You can use this with a Chrome extension to make gathering resources very easy. Your can then share your page called a "rollup" with students by posting a link in your Classroom. No student login is required to use bublup. Because of that, you can not see which students have used the resource, but you can see how many times your "rollup" has been viewed.

Here's are some examples of lesson material curated with bublup.

Flipgrid: This is an interactive video tool. The teacher creates a prompt (in written or video form) and students can respond with a video. Educators have made use of this tool as an informal assessment measure, a creativity challenge, a group discussion forum, and in so many more ways. To ensure student privacy, teachers should set up their flipgrids so that students must sign in with a custom made user name and password OR use Google sign-on.

Loom: This tool is available as a Chrome extension or a desktop application and it allows instructors to create videos in a variety of ways. You can choose between having the video capture your image as you speak, the screen, or both. There are also some editing features built in and you can revisit your video to see how many students have viewed what you have shared.

Nearpod: Our district has purchased full access for all teachers in our school and this is an incredible tool to create interactive lessons you can post in Google Classroom. A Nearpod can be taught in person, using one display for all learners to see, synchronously, with all learners logged in and guided through the lesson, or as a self-paced lesson that is shared with students who will then control their own progression through learning materials. One of their newest features is the option to create videos interspersed with multiple choice questions, so you can check for understanding while students are watching the video you have shared.
