About Me

I extend my warmest greetings to you. As I enter my fourth year at Anthony Aguirre Junior High, I am honored to share my professional journey with you. While my initial tenure was rooted in the realm of Texas History instruction, my passion for fostering knowledge and cultural understanding has led me to now dedicate myself to the dynamic sphere of 6th grade World Cultures.

Within my teaching repertoire, my commitment to educational excellence extends beyond the classroom, as I am an engaged member of Aguirre's esteemed AVID Site Team, contributing to the holistic development of our students.

My academic journey commenced at the illustrious University of Houston, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History. This pursuit of knowledge propelled me further to attain a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with a specialized focus on Social Education. With each passing day, I reaffirm my unwavering passion for the art of teaching, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to guide and inspire my students.

While my professional identity is deeply rooted in education, I am also fervently devoted to the realms of technology and writing. My literary endeavors have graced the pages of The Daily Cougar, the University of Houston's esteemed student-led newspaper, as well as Coog Life, the university's notable magazine. These endeavors, mirroring my commitment to intellectual growth and creative expression, underscore the multifaceted nature of my pursuits.

Thank you for allowing me to share my journey, passions, and dedication with you. I look forward to continued growth and collaboration in the pursuit of educational excellence.

Teaching Philosophy

In my teaching philosophy, I believe in the power of a Growth Mindset to help students learn and grow. I know that every student has the ability to do well in school if they're willing to work hard. This idea is at the heart of how I teach and how my students experience learning.

I understand that learning isn't just about getting the right answers. It's about the journey of getting there. I create a safe and welcoming classroom where students feel comfortable trying new things and making mistakes. By focusing on a Growth Mindset, I show my students that they can get smarter and better at things by trying, practicing, and not giving up, even when things are tough.

I want my students to feel confident and proud of their progress. So, I give them helpful feedback on their work, pointing out what they're doing well and where they can improve. By celebrating their achievements and encouraging them to believe in their potential, I motivate them to aim high and reach their goals.

I'm convinced that when students face challenges, they can discover how capable they really are. With engaging lessons that suit each student's needs, I create a class where they can explore new ideas, work together with classmates, and think critically. By making learning enjoyable and showing students they have a role in their education, I'm guiding them to become lifelong learners who embrace new opportunities and follow their interests.

To sum it up, my teaching philosophy is about nurturing a Growth Mindset in students. By creating a supportive space, giving helpful feedback, and inspiring them to step out of their comfort zones, I'm helping them unlock their potential and develop a lifelong love for learning.
