We have all heard the old saying, "Practice makes perfect" and while many may not think this pertains to reading, it does. The number one thing that helps a child become a better reader is reading. Have your child read every day! They can read to a parent or guardian, brother or sister, pet, or even a stuffed animal. 

Parents, you too need to read to your child. Even if your child is a proficient reader, reading to your child will show him/her that reading is important.
