Dear Families,

Hello!  First of all, let me tell you how excited I am to be working with your child.  I hope to make this a fun and memorable year for them.  I am a firm believer in being a lifelong learner.  My hope is to learn a lot from each other.  I also believe that a solid home/school connection is important to your child’s success.  This year we will be teaching science in Fifth Grade!  I am excited to move up a grade and work with these wonderful children again.  We’ve got a lot to do and I’m looking forward to getting started.  

Please note the information which contains your child’s login information.  This will be important for all of the sites that we use.  They should all be able to login to any of the sites we use with their Google account.  This will allow me to update materials easily as needed.  The children will need to check daily to see the lessons for those days.  This is something that we have gone over in class so they shouldn’t have a problem finding the materials.  Questions and comments can be posted on the page as needed.  You can also contact me directly at jguziec@cvcougars.org.  I check my email regularly, so don’t hesitate to contact me.  Also, I will be using Class Dojo.  Class Dojo is a free app that lets you contact me easily.  Please see the information on how to sign up.  I strongly encourage you to sign up as it is helpful for getting classroom messages out to you quickly and efficiently.

Finally, the kids need to feel a sense of agency.  This is the idea that their choices matter and they can control their own destiny.  Without agency it’s almost impossible to be motivated.  I want every child to set goals for themselves and feel a sense of accomplishment.  We all make mistakes.  We learn from them and move forward.  I want to help them achieve their goals and guide them on their journey.

Thank you for working with me.  I truly appreciate your time and patience as we begin to roll out this new school year.  I will always do my best to ensure that your child gets the best education possible.  With that being said, I am not big on homework.  Your children spend enough time learning throughout the school day.  Home is a time for relaxation, unwinding, extracurricular activities and spending time with family.  Enjoy them as much as I will.  If you have ANY questions, please reach out to me by phone call, email or by using Class Dojo.
