My goal for this pot was to do something different. Prior to this pot, I had only made basic pots that were straight and narrow. This pot was not the easiest to make, making sure the clay stayed circular and hardened in the correct way was the most difficult part. The thing I like the most about this pot was the unique shape and the beautiful purple color, the thing I liked the least about this pot was the way I cut the circle in half because when I did, it made it harder for the two seperate peices to sit together right.
This pot was one of the first ones I made. Although it is very basic and just a straight narrow pot, I was proud of myself for making this pot because it was one of the first ones. For this pot, I just wanted to do something basic because it was one of the first pots, I wanted to do a solid blue color because this color was so pretty. I think making this pot made me realize how fun it was to make pots but also made me realize that it is difficult. It made me figure out what works for me and what doesnt when it came to making pots.
This pot was one of the last ones I made. I didnt really have any specific inspiration when making this pot. It was almost like I had a blank canvas when making this pot and I could do whatever I felt like on it. I knew I wanted a flower on the pot but I was a little nervous to just hand draw it because I didnt know if I would like how it would turn out. I realized that I just needeed to do it and I did, I started by using the light pink to draw out the flower and then went over the petals with black. After finishing the flower, I decided to paint the inside of the pot green just to add more color.
This pot was definetly the hardest one I've done. While the clay was wet I had to take a tool and create the lines all around the pot. This wasnt as easy as I thought it was going to be because it was hard to create the perfect lines without moving the other clay because it was still wet. After I put the pot together and made the lines, I painted it white and then went in with a small brush and painted the lines with the 4 different colors. I had to do about 4 coats of paint in the lines and make sure the color was vibrant.
This pink pot was also one of the first ones I made. I was still a little bit nervous when making this one, thats why it is still very basic shape and color. I was still getting used to figuring out how to shape the pots and make sure they look how they're supposed to. I choose the pink color because pink is one of my favorite colors.
For this pot, I wanted to do something different with the design on the pot. When making this pot I made little line cutouts in the clay while it was still semi-wet. Then I painted it white and I decided to paint the cut out lines a beautiful blue color. I took the clue color and painted about 3 to 4 coats of paint.
