Welcome to 2021-2022

Welcome back to campus! I am so glad you are in my class this year--we are going to learn a lot, and have fun along the way. We will be learning about civilizations during the Medieval Time period and travel all over the world. You'll also learn a lot of new skills that will help you on your way to becoming a thoughtful historian.

School will still not be 100% as it was before the pandemic, and we will have to adapt constantly. I'm ready for the challenge...are you?

About Ms. Stickel :

Hello Condors! I am excited to be starting my 9th year at Canyon Middle School. I began teaching in 2008, and have taught in Richmond, El Cerrito and Berkeley. I've previously taught grades 5, 6, 7, and 8, and hold single subject credentials in both History and English Language Arts. I earned my undergraduate degree in History from UCLA, and continued my education in the teaching credential program at Cal State East Bay. I also hold a Master's Degree in Teaching Leadership from Saint Mary's College.

Outside of school I enjoy running, stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, camping, and international travel. This past summer, I traveled up and down the state of California, hiked across Catalina Island for four days, and visited family in Alaska.
