Super Important Questions

How do I email Ms. Stickel?

How do I know what to do each day?

  • At the top of the website, you will see "Weekly Playlists" in the black menu bar

  • On the Weekly Playlists page, find this week's agenda - you will get to your assignments by going to Google Classroom

  • Due dates on assignments are posted in Google Classroom

  • "What's Due at My Next Google Meet?" is posted at the top of Classwork on Google Classroom

I don't understand the classwork or homework, what should I do?

  • Identify a "study buddy"--someone who also has me as their teacher. Call them up for help!

  • Be sure you are attending the scheduled Google Meets, we will review and correct work at that time

  • I hold "office hours" from 2:00 - 2:30 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The link to the Google Meet is posted at the top of the Classwork section of Google Classroom. If those times don't work for you, email me and we can set up another time to meet.

I'm feeling really confused and overwhelmed, what should I do?

  • I have "Office Hours", where I do small group/individual check-ins from 2:00 - 3:10 each day

  • These check-ins can be done through the chat feature in your waffle (looks like an @) sign. Type in my email (kstickel@cv.k12.ca.us) and we will be in a chat room together

  • Check-ins can also be done through a Google Meet - email me so I know to expect you and then I can send you a link

Questions About Google Classroom

How do I complete assignments, answer questions, etc. in Google Classroom?

  • Here's a tutorial video (you watched it on the second day of school--right?)

I'm a PARENT, can I see what my student is doing in Google Classroom?

  • Short answer: you can look over your child's shoulder while they are signed in, but you cannot access the Google Classroom yourself

  • Here's a tutorial video for PARENTS on how to get Guardian Summaries from Google Classroom

  • Note - For my classes, ALL assignments students complete in Google Classroom will ALSO be recorded in Aeries, so you don't *need* the Guardian Summaries, unless you like the updates!

Questions About Grades

What is my grade in this class?

  • Grades are entered into Aeries about once per week

  • Final grades will NOT be on Google Classroom (although some assignments will have grades there)

  • If you notice a mistake in Aeries, please email me ASAP so we can get it fixed

What are the Grading Categories?

20% - Participation

20% - Projects

40% - Classwork and Notebook

20% - Assessments

How do I get participation points?

  • Participation grades reflect your participation during Google Meets:

  • Participate in the chat, when asked

  • Answer questions, when asked

  • complete Do Nows and Exit Tickets

What is the deal with the DIN?

  • DIN stands for Digital Interactive Notebook - just like you might have had a paper notebook at school where you tape/glue in all of your assignments, this one is digital!

  • You can get to your DIN through Google Classroom

  • You will be working on pages in your DIN almost every day

  • We will review pages you complete in your DIN during Google Meets. You are responsible for correcting your work as we review it. Work that is not corrected/completed will be marked down

  • You will only turn in your DIN once, usually at the end of the Unit

  • The DIN is worth a LOT of points, so make sure you have completed everything before turning it in

Does Ms. Stickel accept late work?

Students can always turn in late work! You will lose points for each day that your work is late, so make the effort to turn it in as soon as possible. Be sure to send an email notifying me what assignment you have submitted.

Does Ms. Stickel give Extra Credit?

  • Extra credit is available to all students.

  • It is available at different times throughout the year, and may range from an extra writing assignment, to watching a video, to reporting on a current event.

  • I do NOT give extra credit to students who ask me what they can do to raise their grade at the end of the quarter.

  • Students can earn 1 point of Extra Credit by coming to Office Hours from 2:00 - 2:30. Students must stay for the entire time, and show me what they are working on at the conclusion of the 30 minutes.

  • WORK HARD, AND ALWAYS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EXTRA CREDIT WHENEVER IT IS GIVEN TO YOU!
