AVID Elective Summary
The goal of the AVID Elective classes is to prepare students to gain admission and succeed in 4-year colleges and universities. Curriculum is tailored to students' needs and progresses each school year. AVID students can continue with an AVID Elective class cohort through all four years of high school.
AVID Objectives:
Provide academic instruction and support to prepare students for success in colleges and universities
Increase knowledge of career options
AVID Activities:
Develop academic success strategies including note taking, critical thinking, study groups, and organizational strategies
Visit college campuses
Interact with guest speakers
Collaborate through projects and team building exercises
Set, refine and take actions towards goals
AVID Candidates are students who:
Have a G.P.A. between 2.5 and 3.5, with average to high test scores
Are actively engaged in their education
Plan to go to college!
