Questions regarding homework
Q1: I logged in Zearn, lesson 14 is the most recent one. Do I need to start from there?
A1: I updated the lesson to lesson 21. Unfortunately, Zearn will only let me update to lesson 21 or 25. As a reminder, math homework is optional but I highly recommend it. You are welcome to have your child to start with lesson 21 and get to lesson 23. We have a mid-module assessment for math soon, so it may be a good idea to have your children at least look at the classwork we've been doing to review their math strategies and math thinking.
Q2: What does "Practice spelling words (word sort) mean?
A2: It means to look at the spelling word list and sort them by word families (i.e. __in, ___ick, __ill, and ___ip). Word sort is academic language that teachers use, I can see how that can be confusing!
Q3: My child did not receive a homework packet in their homework folder this week. Where is it
A3: If you did not specify that you need printed homework copies on the parent teacher survey or did not communicate with me sometime afterwards that you have changed your mind, your child did not receive a hard copy. You will find the scanned copy of the homework weekly on our class website, under the homework tab.
*As a side note: the Eureka math homework key and scanned reading logs are also located under the homework tab.
*Eureka math videos reviewing the Eureka math content are under the Parent Resources section of the Resources tab of the website.
Q4. What are math facts?
A4: Math facts are simple addition and subtraction within 20. You can use blocks, cards, dominos, and various items around home to play math games. You can also review math strategies taught in class such as math fingers, the counting on strategy with dots, and much more. I intend to post a video of me showing some examples of how to do this, but please be patient with me as I try to prioritize preparing for parent teacher conferences and our second book bags!
