For 25 years I've been teaching photography to students with a wide range of abilities -from high school students learning basic photography to upper division college students acquiring advanced visual storytelling skills. I graduated from San Francisco State University in 1992 majoring in Journalism -with a concentration in Photojournalism. Prior to teaching at Castro Valley High School, I worked as a staff photographer at the Marin Independent Journal and other publications in the northern San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 20 years and taught as an adjunct lecturer at San Francisco State and Central Washington University.
My photographs have appeared in numerous publications and wire services, including: Associated Press, American Lawyer Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Denver Post, F-10 Forum, Legal Times, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, The Mercury News, Ms. Magazine, Mainstream Magazine, National Press Photographers Magazine, Newsweek, The New York Times, Running Times, Runner's World, People, Touchdown Magazine, USA Today and Photojournalism, The Professionals' Approach.
