Physical Education 6th Period

Dress Policy

All students must change into appropriate PE clothing.

  • Canyon Gear or athletic grey shirt (NO GRAPHICS)
  • Black athletic shorts (must meet school dress code)
  • Athletic shoes
  • PE gear must be labeled with student's first and last names
  • Defaced, graffitied or torn PE gear must be replaced
  • Sweats of any color brought from home for PE may be worn OVER PE gear
  • SUIT CUTS will be given when a student comes to class in their street clothes with NO PE gear, only part of their PE gear or have NO athletic shoes
  • Loss of 5 points for a suit cut and 3 points for 1/2 suit cut
  • SUIT CUTS are NOT TOLERATED
  • 3-suit cuts will result in an after school referral


Tardies

  • Students must be in the locker room before the tardy bell rings
  • 3 points deducted for a tardy


Excuses/Medical

  • Health excuses require a parent or doctor note
  • Student should be prepared to dress out for class even if they are excused from activity
  • A doctor's note is required for restricted class participation beyond three days


Grading

  • On Time/Dressed (35%)
  • Classwork/Participation/Effort/Cooperation (35%)
  • Testing/Timed runs (30%)

ALL ABSENCES and MISSED RUNS must be made up within one week. See the Teacher for make up assignments

Absent/Extra Credit: 10/4/19

On binder paper include the following:

  • a) Proper Heading. Name ,date, class period
  • b) Title: Dynamic Stretching vs Static Stretching
  • c) Explain in one or two paragraphs, what dynamic and static stretching are. Include two examples of each type of stretch. (One paragraph = 4/5 sentences)
  • d) Explain when is the best time to use both types of stretching when exercising.
  • e) Must include a PARENT SIGNATURE



Absent/EXTRA CREDIT: 11/22/19

II.) Write a report on the history of one of the following sports, volleyball, basketball, football, soccer or handball

Include in the report:

  • The date the sport was founded
  • Where the sport was founded?
  • Who founded/created the sport?
  • The dimensions of the current playing field or court
  • Is it or was it ever an Olympic sport?
  • How many players make up a team?
  • Diagram of two offensive plays
  • Name 5 top athletes currently competing in the sport
  • Must include a parent signature
