Third Grade Homework Policy

Reading & Math

A third grader's responsibility is to bring his/her homework folder and math book to/from school every day. Please help your child to remember to check for work in his/her backpack.

Our goal is for every student to LOVE reading! Ideally, every student would want to read at least 20 minutes per night. Studies show reading is the most beneficial homework activity. However, reading logs and assigned reading do not lead to a love of reading, so we are not giving reading as an "assignment" it is a highly recommended activity! One which we need your help to encourage!

Additionally, we expect students to be practicing their math facts every night. The only way to become fluent in multiplication and division is PRACTICE! There will be additional math problems that align with what we practiced in class that day, however these assignments will be short (only a few problems). Fact practice and reading are the major components of third grade homework.

Thank you for your help!
