What We Do

At a school-wide/Tier 1 and Tier 2 level, elementary school counselors/social workers support the Coordination of Services Team, Student Success Team, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We provide in-class presentations and community circles, restorative conversations between students, and help staff with Social-Emotional Learning curriculum.

Counselors/social workers also provide individual counseling, group counseling, and case management to students in need of social, emotional, and behavioral support. We work collaboratively and in consultation with teachers, school staff and administrators, and families.

Students we serve often face challenges with:

  • Coping with stress and strong emotions in positive ways

  • Focusing attention

  • Peer relationships and social skills

  • Self-regulation

  • Family life (i.e., divorce and separation, grief and loss, life changes)

  • Trauma

Talk with your student's teacher or contact your school's counselor/social worker to discuss the referral process if you're interested in support for your student.
