Reusable cups with lids and water bottles are ok.
Trojans love their library, and it is part of our honor code to keep the library sparkling.
The library is open during lunch, but please consume any food outside of the library.

During Class Periods
Students must have a pass from their teacher or counselor to visit the library during a class period
Students must check in with their teacher first, for attendance in Aeries.
One pass per student. Small group maximum of 5 students, each with an individual pass.
Larger groups require a library reservation and approval on the instructional calendar.
Upon arrival at the library, students must check in.
Student check-ins are visible in real time to counselors and house staff to verify a student's location on campus.
Bathroom passes may not be used as library passes. The pass must be specific to the library.
Teachers send students to the library during class time
Five students, maximum, may come to the library per teacher and period without prior reservation.
Please check the library events calendar and "all bookings" calendar to ensure the library is available for additional visitors.
Each student must have a single, library-specific pass with a teacher's signature and details. No group passes or bathroom passes.
Students must have an academic purpose.
Please send sick students to the health office; send students needing wellness support or de-escalation support to the Wellness Center; technology support to the Textbook Room and work permits to the College & Career Center.
To verify arrival at the library, please contact the student's counselor, not library staff. Counselors have real-time visibility of library arrivals as well as arrivals at other locations on campus.
CVVA, ROP and students without a class are subject to the same rules as in-person CVHS students when visiting the library during normal CVHS class periods.
CVVA, ROP and students without a class must sign in at the library for each and every class period in order to be at the library.
CVVA, ROP and students without a class must be aligned with a CVHS counselor, en lieu of a teacher, for the purposes of getting library passes, late passes and verification of presence on campus.
All other rules apply: five students maximum per counselor per period; check the library events calendar before sending students; students must have an academic purpose; counselors can verify a student's presence at the library, online
During Trojan Time
Students must register for the Library Trojan Time on Teachmore in advance (52 student capacity with Mr. Peterson)
The Library takes attendance for the 52 students who have registered in advance. The Library does not take attendance for students assigned to any other teacher.
Unregistered students that arrive during Trojan Time will be sent to
their teacher (if auto-assigned, teacher-requested, or student-signed up) or
the cafeteria to have their auto-assignment enabled by an administrator (if a Teachmore system error, not auto-assigned, CVVA, ROP)
Teachers must take attendance in Teachmore before sending students to the library
Teachers must send students with a written pass to the library for the duration of Trojan Time and instruct students to deposit the pass in the library pass box and sign in to ensure verification of arrival.
When a student arrives on a teacher-pass during Trojan Time, students are directed to the pass box and sign in. Library staff ask the student if they have had their attendance taken in Teachmore by the teacher or administrator. If not, the student is advised to return to the teacher or cafeteria or risk an absence.

The lost and found is a non-academic, bonus service provided at the library. Staff respectfully request that inquiries be kept to a minimum in order to best serve the academic needs of teachers and students.
CHVS students, teachers and staff must visit the library in-person.
Visit the library twice before calling the library about a lost item to respect students at the library and staff time.
Visitors to CVHS from other schools should contact the CVUSD District office, CVHS event sponsor or coach regarding lost items. The CVUSD/CVHS contact person can visit the lost and found, retrieve the items and coordinate pickup at a future event (e.g. sporting event, performance, etc.).
Please look for and pick up items promptly
Lost items are placed in the "lost and found" box at the front of the library.
Technology items are put behind the library circulation desk (earbuds, cell phones, keys, money, eyeglasses, NOT laptops).
Money or gift cards that are unclaimed after 1 week are given to the person who kindly turned them in (if identified). At the end of the year, unclaimed money is donated to the library supplies budget via the finance office.
No Liability
CVHS staff, including but not limited to library staff and TAs, are not liable for any damage or loss to items while held in the "lost and found" and are not responsible for, liable or accountable for that have been freecycled or discarded.
Freecycles
To reduce the size of the lost and found throughout the school year, the Library periodically puts unclaimed lost and found items outside. Any student may take the items in the freecycle bins.
In the last three weeks of school, all items that remain in the Lost and Found must be moved out of the Library. Items are given away in freecycle events and then shipped to charities in the last week, if there is staff time. Keys are thrown away.
No Storage
Lost items are not stored or held in the library over the summer or holiday weeks as they present a liability to the rest of the library collections and equipment.
Teaching technologies are available in the library for in-library use only. Teachers reserve library technologies and room configurations when reserving an instruction session.
Teachers bring their own laptops to the library for instruction and connect to the instructional technologies.
Library technologies are provided as educational tools for students and staff for teaching and learning. Class-related use takes priority over other types of use.
Most library technologies are carefully selected for the space, durability, ease of use, electrical capacity/connectivity and compatibility with other library technologies such that we can flexibly adapt the library spaces for multiple purposes and train many users quickly
Please care for the technologies and classroom space, as they are very heavily used to educate many students, families and staff.
