I am so glad you are in my class this year! We will be broadening our perspectives through reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You'll also learn a lot of new skills that will help you on your way to becoming a thoughtful citizen.
Using this website, you can find links to all the important stuff for 6th Grade Intro to Ethnic Studies. You will also find info about me and my contact information. If you need anything, please reach out. I'd be happy to help!
On campus: I am in Room A-12 for Ethnic Studies & in Room F-10 for Leadership & Activities.
Email: kshen@cv.k12.ca.us - I do my best to respond to email within 24 hours when school is in session.
Office Hours: I am usually in Room F-10 during both lunches, if you have any questions or concerns to talk to me about. You can either just drop-in or send me a message to talk and get your questions answered. If you can't make it during lunchtime, email me and we can set up another meeting.

Hello Condors! I am excited to be starting my 26th year as part of the Canyon Middle School Community and my 4th year teaching Ethnic Studies. I have had many roles here are Canyon, including 8th Grade English teacher, Co-Activities Director, Secondary English Instructional Coach, and Intervention Coordinator. I'm so excited to be able to be with you on your middle school journey!
I'm originally from Reno, NV, and went to college in Colorado. I hold a single subject credential in English Language Arts, and I also earned an Administrative Credential and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Cal State East Bay. I’m currently taking classes to get my Ethnic Studies certificate at SFSU. Outside of school I enjoy watching all kinds of sports (but the best is Broncos football), singing karaoke, hanging out with my family & friends, and snuggling with my two beagles. I also love to visit two of my favorite places, Disneyland and Lake Tahoe.
I love teaching middle school because I get to see students start to form their own opinions, learn to challenge the world around them, & become the people they want to be to improve the world. One of the best parts of my job is being Co-Activities Director at Canyon. I love working with Ms. Hsu to get to know all our Condors and help students find engaging ways to connect to school, support their community, and become global citizens! We're in it for the fun!
