Throughout my series, I am investigating how I relate my relationship with God to the ocean. The ocean is my inspiration and each piece expresses my relationship with God from different perspectives. I relate the power of the ocean to God's power in my life.

The mood of each artwork depends on the appearance of the ocean -- its waves and movement or stillness, its shades of blue, and our vantage point on it.

As water symbolizes life, I see the changes in my life reflected in the changes of the ocean. The ocean can symbolize uncertainty and chaos. Other times it can symbolize peace and stability. The movement of the ocean waves symbolizes God's peace that brings cleansing and purification to my mind and body, as shown in my self-portrait, in which an ocean wave is on my face, as if the wave is bringing peace to me.
