My series of works is about conveying the idea of absurdity or randomness through individual stories or concepts in each digital painting. I think the connection between my works come from them all having believable settings but with a surrealist or comical twist. I was interested in using distinct geometric shapes, and texture, or the lack of it, to fill the canvas with interest. In the aspect of color, I tried to keep it diverse across different works, but also unified them by keeping them relatively desaturated while having some pink or red accents pop. I chose to work digitally because it gives me the freedom to experiment without any risk of ruining my work.
In my first two paintings, I tried to convey absurdity using my life experiences and my personal feelings. As my work progressed, it drifted away from personal experiences and more towards imaginative stories or concepts. I looked for inspirations from song titles, painting from intuition and simultaneously developing the concept. I don’t look for any quality in the songs in particular, but they tend to be relatively niche music from independent artists.
