I'm exploring my love of charcoal, watercolor, and how music can tend to influence my art. The pieces don’t seem to connect other than material and possibly character depending on the piece, but that's because my mind jumps from thing to thing based on the music I listen to. If I had a song stuck in my head or was listening to some classical for the lack of distraction I get a different piece because they're different genres. I’ve found that there is a lot of potential in letting my mind wander while listening to music; this way, I’m constantly creating new ideas in response to the songs I listen to.
When creating these artworks, I focused more on experimentation with materials than the subject of them. I went from using charcoal with splashes of color, to plain charcoal, to digital to full color, then back to my original idea of the charcoal with the color. In the end, this combination of materials was my favorite visually with the boldness of the charcoal and the splashes of color from the watercolor.
