For the purposes of you seeing the formatting, I’m using an excerpt from Robert Henri’s Art Spirit, which is a classic self-help/guidebook for artists, first published in 1923. Anyway, just take out these two paragraphs of text and put in your artist statement instead.

Here is some Robert Henri. I have taken the liberty of replacing all male pronouns with "they": When the artist is alive in any person, whatever their kind of work may be, they become an inventive, searching, daring, self-expressive creature. They become interesting to other people. They disturb, upset, enlighten, and open ways for better understanding. Where those who are not artists are trying to close the book, they open it and show there are still more pages possible.
