Welcome to AP Statistics! Any links you need will be posted here, so bookmark this page so you can refer to it later! You will need to add this class to your Google Classroom, as that will be where almost all assignments and announcements will be located. Please add the class according to period you are enrolled in!
You need to get a graphing calculator! it is a required tool for this class. Students will not be successful in the course without one. Really. I’m not exaggerating. You will use your graphing calculator pretty much every day and on each and every test, including the AP exam in May. The TI-84 is the recommended calculator (any in the series will work but the color one is particularly nice!). Also acceptable are the TI-89’s and TI Nspires, but you will need to depend much more heavily on the textbook for help as I am not very familiar with them (demonstrations in class will also be done on a TI-84 so you may be left scrambling to follow along sometimes). Some students have also had success using the less expensive Casios, but I am not familiar enough with their line to recommend one.
I highly recommend purchasing your own calculator. TI's run anywhere from about $90 to $180, but deals can frequently be found on eBay if you are willing to get a used one. If you cannot afford to purchase one, you will be able to check out a TI-83+ (not the best but it does the job) at the beginning of the school year. For now, you can download a free emulator for your computer at https://wabbit.codeplex.com/.
You can also find many resources online to help you use the calculator’s powerful tools that are necessary for this course – here’s one at apstatsmonkey: http://apstatsmonkey.com/StatsMonkey/TI83-84_Guide_files/TIGuideDraft.pdf.
