College Readiness

Rising 11th Grade

1. If you have not attended in the past, sign up for the Florida College Tour 

2. Begin researching colleges using Scoir and building a list. 

3. Complete Career Assessment via Scoir, see instructions here.  

4. Practice for SAT and ACT in a formal review class or online.

5. Get a job or volunteer. 

6. Want to be considered for Silver Knight? Work on a major service project if you don’t have one already. 

7. Continue to spend your summers wisely:

   1. Visit colleges

   2. Volunteer

   3.  Intern

   4. Work 

Rising 12th Grade

NEW 12th graders: please email your college counselor, Ms. Caamano, for a meeting and to get started on the process below: mcaamano@cushmanschool.org 

1. Review Family Action Plan: 12th Grade

2. Finalize your Common App essay (started in SAM junior year) and make any edits (or start over if you need to). 

3. Request meetings with Ms. Caamano (college counselor) in the Summer using the Calendly link: https://calendly.com/mcaamano/30min 

4. Consider summer employment.

5. Discuss college choices at home to be ready to apply in the Fall. 

6. Visit colleges you are certain you will apply to. 

7. Continue working on your Common App. 

   1. Add colleges to your Common App 

   2. Begin answering college specific questions in August (not sooner due to the rollover).
