Jobs & Descriptions
TEACHER’S ASSISTANTS:
1. Help substitute teachers to understand how our class runs.
2. Do many assorted jobs that come up each day in addition to the
above tasks.
3. Organize and prepare materials for any lessons.
4. Collect and return any log books. (i.e., Reading contracts, Science
Journals)
5. Assist classmates with work (i.e., Science Write-Ups)
6. Log in assignments as soon as possible. Notify fellow student(s)
about papers that have not been turned in on time.
7. Do assorted organizational tasks.
8. Organize the materials and the books that are needed for students
who are absent.
THURSDAY FOLDER HELPERS:
1. File student work and prepare Thursday folders to be sent home each
Thursday.
2. Check Thursday folders on Friday mornings for any important papers
to be turned in and sort folders in numerical order.
MATH TUTORS:
1. Help to organize our math warm-ups or journal entries.
2. Support classmates, when they need additional help with their math,
by working as one-on-one tutors.
3. Help with any math task.
LIBRARIAN(S):
1. Keep library area neat and orderly.
2. Distribute book order slips and books
3. Pass out and collect texts that are not stored in desks.
4. Create a check out system and make sure books are returned within
a reasonable amount of time by the reader.
DISTRIBUTION & SUPPLY TEAM:
1. Keep track of supplies and inform me of any items that are running
low.
2. Check out supplies and collect them at the end of the day.
3. Keep supply areas neat. (including the fun boxes)
MESSENGERS:
1. Carry the attendance to the office each morning before 9:00.
2. Deliver any messages that need to be sent around campus.
LUNCH MONITORS: Volunteers: Everyone after lunch
1. Note positive or negative comments given to our students.
2. Ensure that the clean-up is performed and help sweep our table area
after lunch.
LUNCH KITCHEN HELPERS:
Subs -
1. Help pass out lunches and give students pass codes if they forget.
(Leave 10 minutes before lunch; (Day to be determined) leave 15 minutes before lunch)
KINDERGARTEN HELPERS, PUDDLE JUMPERS: (Rotations)
Rm 1 (start at lunch counter)
Rm 2 (start at lunch counter)
Rm 4 (start at lunch counter)
Rm 5 (start at lunch counter)
Rm 3 (start at kinder yard)
Backup(s):
1. Help kindergarten students during their lunch period.
2. Help teach students in the primary lunch area about recycling and keeping
the area clean.
3. Help primary grades during lunch time on rainy days.
LINE LEADERS:
1. Make sure students are in line and quiet. Lead the classroom to
assemblies, P.E., and music.
PENCIL SHARPENERS:
1. Sharpen blunt pencils in the morning or just before school is out.
RECYCLE/TRASH TEAM:
1. Take recycling bin to the recycling area when it’s full.
2. Take out trashcan and dump trash into larger trash can outside room.
FLOOR PATROL:
1. Check classroom floor throughout the day for paper scraps/trash. Ask
student within the vicinity to pick up any scraps, etc off the floor.
2. Check student desktops to see if they are clear and clean before dismissal.
3. Check underneath table groups to make sure there is no trash or binders on
the floor before dismissal.
4. Excuse students standing quietly behind their desks after their area is
clear and clean. (Chairs need to be on top of desks)
TECHNOLOGY TEAM:
1. Make sure that all computers are on in the morning and off before you
go home.
2. Keep the computer areas neat and orderly.
3. Help students if they are stuck on a program.
4. Load and play the V.C.R.
5. Turn the video/computer display on/off.
6. Help out in computer lab when needed. Check finders to see that all
students have closed the appropriate programs before we leave.
7. Help with any technical problems.
8. Download United Streaming titles to our eMac or iBook.
9. Burn Discs.
10.Type for class and classmates (You must type at least 18 w.p.m.)
11. Update the homework section of the classroom website daily.
BULLETIN BOARDS TEAM:
Student work on bulletin boards.
2. Help design bulletin boards.
3. Change the calendar each month.
GAMES MANAGERS: Teacher Assistants
1. Maintain games cabinet ensuring students sign in and sign out to
use board games.
RECESS EQUIPMENT MANAGERS: Teacher Assistants
1. Make sure recess equipment are checked in and out.
2. Notify teacher to replace equipment when necessary.
SCIENTISTS:
Help set up science experiments, and organized kits to be set back to the
district KIT STOP.
PROCEDURES TEAM:
1. Make sure classmates are following rules and procedures.
2. Help the teacher change the procedures chart for the proper work
period.
BASIC STUDENT IN OUR ROOM: (EVERYONE)
1. Be kind, helpful, positive, and patient with both your classmates and
teacher.
2. Come to class prepared to learn.
3. Do your share.
4. Take charge of your education. Put a "twist" on your work to make it
unique and special.
5. Work smart by spending a reasonable amount of time on your work.
(Especially avoid spending three hours on a homework assignment that
should
take you one hour. I know what perfectionists many of you are!)
6. Maintain an academic focus.
