I grew up nearby in West San Jose and I'm thrilled to be teaching in my hometown! My teaching experience over the past few years includes student teaching fourth grade and kindergarten in CUSD and Moreland School Districts. When I came to Sedgwick, I took over a first grade class for a teacher who moved out of the country. Last year I taught fourth grade at Sedgwick and absolutely fell in love with this grade level!
I'm a proud alum of Archbishop Mitty High School (Go Monarchs!) and I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a B.S in Liberal Studies (#calpolyproud). I earned my teaching credential and Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction from San Jose State. When I'm not teaching I love to practice yoga, hike in the mountains, and cheer on the San Francisco Giants , Oakland Athletics, and Golden State Warriors!
If you see me around, please say hello!
Dear Parents and Supporters,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! As the new year begins, I would like to introduce myself. This is my third school year teaching at Sedgwick. I have a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Studies from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Master of Education and Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential from San Jose State University. My teaching experience includes 4th and 1st grade at Sedgwick, as well as student teaching in the district in 4th grade at Garden Gate and Kindergarten at Eisenhower.
I am so happy to be teaching at Sedgwick Elementary School because of it’s very supportive parents, it's motivated students and it’s cooperative and caring staff.
Communication- Throughout the year, I will communicate with families through the app Seesaw, Thursday Dolphin folders, report cards and at goal-setting conferences in October. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child at any time. The best way to contact me is via email or on Seesaw. More information about Seesaw will shared on Back to School Night, Thursday August 23rd.
Special classes- Students will have one 45 minute music class per week on Thursdays. They will have two 45-minute P.E. classes per week on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Please ensure that your child is wearing comfortable running shoes on those two days and have them bring a water bottle so they can stay hydrated.
First Day packet- Please carefully go over the paperwork in the manila envelope sent home on the first day of school, sign and return all required forms. The contents of this packet are due before Friday, August 24th.
With your participation in and out of the classroom, we can look forward to a productive, creative and fun year together!
Sincerely,
Miss Kylie Mulcaire
