DO NOT feel compelled to buy all new equipment for Yosemite. If you need one or more of the items on the list and will not regularly visit the snow, think about checking our Yosemite Store during lunch in room 14. The Yosemite Store will be open for checking out equipment starting Monday, December 1. We have an assortment of jackets, boots, sleeping bags, pants, etc.
The full packing list can be found as a document here.
Be mindful as you are packing: You are limited to one suitcase, one backpack! (+sleeping bag)
YOU must be able to carry YOUR luggage.
· Waterproof Jacket - Down is warm, but useless when wet. You must bring a rain poncho if you are bringing a jacket that is not waterproof. Water-resistant is not sufficient in the rain and snow.
· Beanie
· Waterproof gloves or mittens
· Waterproof Pants – ski or rain pants (lined or unlined)
· Waterproof hiking boots
· Sweatshirt or Sweaters – 2-3 for the week
· Shirts – Long-sleeved AND include a couple of short-sleeved t-shirts for those times you get really warm.
· Pants – 2-3 pairs
· Thermal Underwear – at least one pair is desirable (especially bottoms) for use in the snow and on cold evenings.
· Underwear
· Socks – at least 3-5 pairs of thick hiking socks.
· Night Wear – pajamas, thermals, or sweats work well.
· Toiletries – Towel, toothpaste, toothbrush, washcloth, shower slippers, shampoo and conditioner, soap, etc. etc.
· Sleeping bag (OR warm bedding + pillow) – We highly recommend you place this in a 33-gallon trashbag labelled with your name and bus letter to keep it from getting wet or dirty.
· Masks -- Naturebridge requirements may change going forward. Bring 3 masks in case indoor masking is required.
· Sunscreen (at least 15 SPF) and lip balm.
· 2 Water Bottles – should be one quart each, unbreakable plastic.
Nalgene, Platypus, and Camelbak are great brands; Hydroflasks are sturdy, but be warned: they will be heavier because they are metal.
· Backpack – Big enough to carry rain gear, extra clothing, water bottle, lunch, etc.
· Bandana or large handkerchief [required] - serves as a table cloth during lunch and provides many other useful functions.
· Battery-operated Alarm Clock – one required per cabin
· Pencils or other writing utensils
· Sunglasses – Dark, sturdy glasses prevent snow blindness and insure comfort on sunny days and while out in the snow.
· Flashlight or headlamp – for use at night around the campground.
· Plastic Bags – bring at least one 33-gallon garage bag and a few large zip-lock food storage bags. You will find many reasons to use them. Keep some in your backpack for trash, wet clothes, journal protector etc.
· Camera (optional) – You may not bring a phone to use as a camera.
· Shower slippers
· Extra Footwear (optional) – a second pair of lightweight shoes or boots for use in your cabin.
· Money (min. $3 recommended) - If you get locked out or lose your key, you will be required to pay $3 to get back into your cabin. We are also asking for a donation of $5-$10 to go toward gift cards for your Nature Bridge Educators. Money can also be used to purchase souvenirs at the Yosemite store in Curry Village.
