Auditions will take place on Tuesday, September 23rd and Wednesday, September 24th in the Chorus room.  You do not need to be at both dates, only one. Mr. Elftmann will make exceptions to these two audition dates at his own discretion.  We will begin auditions as soon as we can after school, and will continue until they are finished: approximately 3 PM – 5 PM.  You DO NOT need to stay for the entire time, once you’ve auditioned, you should leave. You MAY need to arrange for transportation home, as many of you won’t be able to audition until after the activity bus has gone.  Callbacks may be used on an as needed basis.

You will need to bring your signed permission slip to Mr. Elftmann BEFORE your audition ---by Friday, September 19th at the lastest!!. These will be available at the info meeting, and afterward outside Mr. Elftmann's room.

You will be asked to enter the audition space (Chorus Room) in groups of 5.  These groups can be made by you if you prefer, but if you don’t have a group, we will find one for you! Auditions will be recorded to help with the selection process. These videos will not be posted or shared in anyway, of course, they are just for Mr. Elftmann to review.

Each student will prepare part a song (30 seconds or so) of your choosing to be sung from memory. It can be any style or genre that you prefer. Choose something that shows off your voice, in a range that is suitable for you.   If you’d like a starting pitch on the day of the audition, one can be provided for you. You will sing this individually, but you will be in front of myself and the rest of your audition group.  You do not need to bring a copy of the music with you.  

Each student will also learn a dance (instructional video to come after the info meeting!)  You will perform this dance twice at your audition, both times you’ll perform in your group of 5. 

Students will be notified of making the group on Friday, September 26th at 3 pm. The notification will come as an invitation to a Google Classroom for the new group! If you do not receive the invite, you did not make the group. I will email students that were not selected to let them know as well.

Expressions rehearsals take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7 AM.  Evening choreography rehearsals happen 2-3 times during the year, typically taking place on weekday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (see below).  There will also be occasional extra afternoon rehearsals on the lead up to concerts.  Our first morning rehearsal will be Tuesday, September 30th at 7:00 AM.

Monday, October 27th -- 6:30 - 9 pm @ Hubble

This will be discussed at our group rehearsal after auditions. I do not have exact numbers yet, but my goal for our cost this year is between $125-150. If you think the cost might be prohibitive, please reach out to me! We can work out something that will help you participate if money is an issue, REALLY!!
