In this class students will learn many fundamental math concepts that will carry them to success this year and beyond!

Quarter 1

We will be learning how to solve linear equations in one variable. This will include distributing and combining like terms. We will solve equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign. We will analyze special cases that may occur, both no solutions and infinite solutions.

Quarter 2

We will then move to graphing linear equations and become very familiar with the slope-intercept form y=mx + b. Graphing equations and understanding what the graphs are representing is a fundamental step in mathematical learning.

Quarter 3

Students will be introduced to irrational numbers while solving problems for both volume and distance. They will understand and use the Pythagorean Theorem.

Quarter 4

We will explore scatter plots, circling back to slope intercept form and linear equations. We will end the year exploring transformations, preparing the students for geometry their Freshman year.
