Google Apps

Google Apps

Google Apps are a suite of web-based collaboration applications that Google hosts on their own servers. In this situation, Claremont Unified has worked with Google to create our domain on Google. Google provides these applications as a "service," rather than as software to download and install. To access these applications, you simply use a web browser on a computer that's connected to the Internet or an app through your mobile device.

If you are not familiar to Google Apps, just imagine email. Your emails are not tied to a computer, but rather to a server. The advantage of this is that you can access your email from anywhere, as long as you have internet connection and your username and password. Google Apps is exactly the same thing, but instead of just emails, you have access to word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and virtually any type of file type that you want to store on your Google Drive. Furthermore, perhaps the greatest tool of Google Apps is the ability to have multiple people collaborate online on the same Google Document or any other Google file.

Claremont Unified provides a Google Apps account for all teachers and students. Make sure to connect your office manager or the TOSA at your site to get your Google Account credentials.
