The same guidelines for staying healthy apply to COVID-19 as to more common illnesses. These tips come from the CDC:
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Stay home if you are sick.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away.
Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are frequently touched.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
The CDC does not recommend wearing a facemask, unless you have symptoms of COVID-19.
Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a virus strain that has spread quickly through the world's population. Health experts are concerned because they are still learning about this new virus. Reported cases have ranged from mild illness (similar to a common cold) to severe pneumonia that requires hospitalization.
People who have been diagnosed with novel coronavirus have reported symptoms that may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure.
The most common symptoms are fever, cough and difficult breathing. If you experience any of these symptoms, please consider calling the Johnson County COVID-19 hotline: https://jocogov.org/coronavirus-covid-19-update
